Buck Moon Outfitters LLC was founded in 2026 on the rolling grass and grain of Mills Farm — ground that has drawn pheasant and wild birds into its cover for generations. Formerly operated under the name Mills Pheasant Hunts South Dakota. Marvin Mills passed the torch that has been in his family for four generations.
Buck Moon Outfitters LLC is a veteran-owned pheasant hunting preserve and lodge located in Armour, South Dakota, in the heart of Charles Mix County. Founded by Ryan and Suzanne Burke, we offer guided preserve and wild bird hunts, world-class hunting dogs, premium lodge accommodations, and full-service catering — everything you need for an unforgettable time in the field.
Ryan spent more than 20+ years serving in the United States Army, including eight combat deployments during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). That service shaped everything about how we operate — with integrity, with commitment, and with a genuine belief that the people beside you are what matter most. Buck Moon Outfitters exists to create the kind of memories that last a lifetime. A father and his sons. A group of lifelong friends. Families and colleagues coming together around something real.

Buck Moon Outfitters was born from a simple belief — that the greatest memories a person can make are the ones shared in the field, with the people who matter most.
We are a premier pheasant hunting preserve and lodge operation located in the heart of Charles Mix County, South Dakota, one of the most productive upland hunting regions in North America. We offer guided South Dakota preserve and wild bird hunts, using world-class hunting dogs, premium lodge accommodations, and delicious family style meals — everything handled, so all you have to do is show up and hunt.
Our Story
Buck Moon Outfitters is veteran-owned and operated. Our founder, Ryan Burke, spent more than 20+ years serving in the United States Army and Joint Special Operations Command, including eight combat deployments during the Global War on Terror. Five years away from home. A lifetime of perspective earned the hard way.
When Ryan and his wife Suzanne chose to build something of their own, they chose the land, the birds, and the tradition that has called hunters to South Dakota for generations. Buck Moon Outfitters is the result — a place built on the same values that carried Ryan through a career of service: integrity, hard work, and an unshakable commitment to the people beside you.
The Name
The Buck Moon is July's full moon — named by Native American and early settler traditions to mark the season when male deer grow their new antlers, shedding what no longer serves them and stepping into something greater.
It is a symbol of renewal. Of resilience. Of the strength that comes from enduring hard seasons and emerging stronger.
That is the spirit we bring to every hunt.
What We Offer
Buck Moon Outfitters offers multiple South Dakota Pheasant hunt packages including an all-inclusive hunting experience built for groups of 4 to 12. Whether you are a first-time visitor to South Dakota or a seasoned pheasant hunter looking for something exceptional, we have a package designed for you.
Our DIY Daily Hunt offers flexible field access for self-guided hunters with a cost per person, with bird packages available to suit any group. Our Basic Pheasant Hunt Package puts you in the field for three full days with professional guides, trained dogs, off site lodging, and a field lunch included. Our All Inclusive Pheasant Hunt Package delivers the full Buck Moon experience — all meals and lodging provided at our homestead, nothing left to chance. And for corporate groups and executive retreats, our Legacy Pheasant Hunt Experience offers exclusive property buyout, premium hospitality, and a hunt your clients will talk about for years.
Every package includes access to prime preserve and wild bird habitat across our private 570 acre farm in Charles Mix County, professionally trained gun dogs from Buck Moon Kennels, and the kind of genuine South Dakota hospitality that keeps guests coming back season after season.
